Lead generation for your business can be an
expensive proposition. Leads can easily cost 5-8 dollars per lead. Without a
strategy to eliminate that cost, you will quickly be out of business. If you
have a business that depends on duplication for your success, duplication will
go out the window because very few people have that kind of money to invest
long term in their business. The Funded Proposal can, if used properly, add a
continuous stream of qualified prospects to your marketing funnel for pennies
on the dollar.
As an example my first funded proposal yielded
100 leads and $457 dollars. My cost was $178 dollars. When it was all said and

What is a funded proposal? If you were to
generate leads for your business by advertising alone, you would have the
expense of advertising and the only way to recoup that expense would be through

by providing a product to sell to your target market so that while you create
the lead, you also create the income in real time to pay for that lead.
Keys to running a successful funded proposal:
1) You must have a product to sell
2) Your product must add value to your prospect
3) Your product must be easy to deliver to your prospect
4) You must have a system to run your proposal
5) Your product should already be tested in the market place so that you can
plan your advertising campaign.
6) Your product must truly be your own. In other words, many products available
for use in a funded proposal have affiliate or marketing links embedded in them
by the creator of the product. What this means is that your prospect becomes
their prospect. Not good.
The funded proposal also provides two key
benefits to your lead generation efforts:
1) It sorts and sifts your lead. Many people
fill out forms on the internet and the majority will never take action. A
completed form simply demonstrates a level of interest on the part of your
prospect, but there is no way to quantify or qualify that level of interest. A
funded proposal allows you to do that. A person who purchases your product
through your funded proposal has demonstrated that they are willing to invest
in themselves to support their interest. That upgrades your prospect from curious
to serious and should guide your follow up method.
2) It takes the pressure off of you when you
follow up with your lead. Your follow up call is truly a courtesy call. The
lead is free eliminating the pressure to make the sale just to cover your
marketing costs. You can really follow up in a relaxed and easy way.

view the offer, not just the buyers. The term for this is a squeeze page. You
advertise to drive people to a compelling squeeze page where they must give you
their contact information to view the offer.
The purpose of the squeeze page is not to sell
product, it is a compelling explanation of the benefits designed to create a
desire in the prospect to move to the next stage. This is where you build
enough value for the prospect for them to leave their contact information.
This information is usually put into an
autoresponder in order to send them a series of emails encouraging them to
return to your sales page in order to purchase your funded proposal. You should
also send them a personal email thanking them and introducing yourself to start
building the relationship.
The sales letter for the product is where the
prospect goes after submitting their information. This is where you build value
for the main product in your funded proposal. Even though you have their
information, if they don't feel that the offer is legitimate and of value, it
will taint your follow up efforts.
The system should also have automated delivery
of the product upon purchase. This is especially true of selling a digital
product such as an ebook or a report. If you have to ship a physical product,
streamline the processing to minimize your involvement. Hire your child to do
the packing if they are capable. You can put them on the payroll as young as 8.
Otherwise, hire a responsible teenager.
Your focus should always be on growing your
business. If it gets distracted too much with the operation of the funded
proposal system, then it's not being done correctly. The funded proposal system
should complement and grow your primary business, not replace it.
The income received from your funded proposal
system should be reinvested back into your business in the form of more
advertising and the purchase of more leads. This can cause your business to
grow much faster than it would without it.
In summary, having a good funded proposal system
can mean the difference between succeeding quickly or failing slowly. The keys
are to offer a quality product that offers value and is attractive to the
prospects you are looking for, having a good information capture and follow up
system, and minimizing your involvement with the fulfillment process.

One of the biggest myths in Network Marketing is
the ability to get rich quick. Network Marketing takes time to build just like
most businesses. The traditional business takes between 1-5 years to break even
and profit. Why should we expect Network Marketing to be any different? I
believe this comes from the fact that Network Marketing does not carry the
overhead costs that are generally associated with a traditional business.
The majority of people who choose to start a
Network Marketing business have no prior business experience. Some of the most
common desires people have when starting their businesses are debt freedom,
time freedom, the ability to travel, financial freedom, and the desire to get
out of the "rat race". Most people however do not consider what it
will take to achieve their goals. They are usually sold on the "hype"
that it will be an easy road.
Most people are not told what costs will be
associated with running and maintaining their network marketing business. This
is one of the leading causes for network marketing failure. People simply run
out of money before they can produce a stable monthly income from their
business. This is why a funded proposal is needed in network marketing. A
funded proposal is a marketing strategy that markets a front end product to a
customer whereby the sale of that product produces income that cover's a
distributor's marketing costs. A distributor is able to stay in business long
enough to recruit the associates needed to grow a successful business. A funded
proposal helps a distributor deal with the attrition factor because he/she
makes money even if a team member drops out of the business. Having a funded
proposal will allow distributors to make money throughout the entire sales
process not just when he/she recruits or retails products. This provides more
control to the distributor and will greatly enhance their chances of success.
How do we start a funded proposal? Most funded
proposals can be set up as an informational product. An information product can
be in the form of an E-book, a hard copy book, or manual. They are usually
marketed online through a website or by email. The information product should
solve a particular problem or educate people on how to solve a particular
problem. For example, let's say I produce an E-book entitled "How to Lose
30 pounds in 30 days." I do my research, write my report and save my work
in PDF format. I design a simple website online through "Site build
It.com" and offer the E-book for sale at a certain price. My goal is two
fold. I desire to sell as many E-books up front with the goal of offering the
customer my business opportunity or more weight loss products on the backend.
If a customer buys once and is satisfied there is a great chance they will
purchase again.
This is just an example but I hope you get my
point. This could be set up in many different ways. In my experience, most
people would rather invest a small fee to get information on solving a
particular problem before they would consider a business opportunity. This is
why it's hard trying to sell people on the concept of your business opportunity
when there are so many other opportunities available to them. A funded proposal
will help solve the major problems associated with building a network marketing
business and will help you develop a relationship first. Once the relationship
and trust is developed the greater the opportunity to recruit.

Funded Proposal was a term I had never heard
into I got a call from some guy named Joe Schroeder in 1996 after we released
our Confessions of a Network Marketing Millionaire course. Since that time, Joe
and I have become friends, but at the time all I knew was I wanted to sell a
generic training program and use that to create leads for my business on the
backend.
Joe called it a funded proposal and that term has
stuck. Marketers in the know are using funded proposals to grow their business,
while the majority of mlm distributors, don’t have a clue.
What is a funded proposal?
Network Marketing Distributors are notorious for
getting into “mine is better
than yours” debates. This ultimately is a total waste of time, and accomplishes
nothing.
A funded proposal is simply a way to have all
your marketing and advertising cost covered, and in some cases put cash in your
pocket. Instead of promoting your MLM products or opportunity, you promote a
high quality business tool, training program or service that can help all
network marketers.
After someone purchases from you, they go into
your email data base. Now you can continue to offer them services and products
you believe in, all the while creating commissions from the sell of those
products and services.
Down the road, if and when the timing is right
you can introduce your backend (opportunity) to them. However at this time you
have developed a relationship with them and they perceive you as someone they
know, like, and trust.
Mike Dillard operates a very successful funded
proposal system and he calls this
concept becoming the hunted instead of hunting.
When we introduced our Confessions program, we
supplied our downline members with postcards, direct mail letters, space ads,
classified ads, everything they needed to promote the program.
Each of our members had the opportunity to earn
a $25.00 commission on every course sold. By promoting the generic training
program instead of the opportunity they were able to actually make money, while
prospecting for the business opportunity. It can’t get much better than that,
can it?
Let’s face it, distributors who buy generic
training, are the exact type of people you want on your team, The fact that
they are willing to spend money, to grow, learn and develop says a lot about
how serious they are about becoming successful in their business.
I am shocked at more mlm heavy hitters don’t
teach this concept to their organization and use Funded Prosposals as part of
their marketing campaigns. When you think about it, in today’s world most
distributors are spending money for mlm leads, many times with little or no
results.
With a properly run funded proposal campaign
distributors can finance all of their prospecting methods, while identifying
top quality prospects for their business.
To get started, contact some of the top MLM
trainers and tell them you would like to purchase their book, or training
programs in bulk. These types of calls routinely come into my office each month
from distributors that are in the know.
Next develop an effective postcard and or
website and test this method. I know you will be pleasantly surprised at the
positive results it provides your business.

Funded Proposals. An interesting term. But what
does it really mean? In its simplest form, it is a self perpetuating marketing
system. For example...let's say you want to sell a product or service. If you
could set up a system whereby your marketing budget is paid for by the sale of
additional products that you offer, can you see that this would allow you to
continue the marketing process for as long as you choose?
While that may sound a bit confusing, it is
really a simple system. And, it is a perfect plan that can be easily duplicated
for those in the network marketing arena. While organizations can be built
using old school mlm approaches, in order to grow your business to massive
levels in today's world necessitates the use of additional techniques. The
internet, for one, must be utilized. Since most people are on the internet in
one form or another, accessing the incredible potential of the internet will
give you the edge you need to reach the goals you desire. However, this must be
done properly and efficiently to have the best effect.
Here are the key ingredients... Lead capture
page, direct sales page, compelling informational products that network
marketers will find valuable, a detailed tracking system(Critically important),
autoresponders that are branded to you, and lastly, consistent training on how
to pull it all together.
Let's briefly talk about each of these
ingredients.
LEAD CAPTURE PAGE: It amazes me to see an
attractive ad that inspires me to click on a link which then leads me straight
to a direct sales page. This may sound good to you, but it is poor at best. In
order to follow up with prospective customers and business associates you must
gather their contact information first. A person may not have instantaneous
interest at first glance or may purchase a product and not realize that you
offer other products as well. Without contact information you have lost the
opportunity to maximize your relationship with that particular prospect.
DIRECT SALES PAGE: This page must be able to
hold a prospect's attention. It must be written in a way that not only promotes
your products but educates why your products are critically important for that
prospect's business success. It must not be overstated, but must give
convincing data to inspire the prospect to take action. The best Direct Sales
Pages have multiple products to offer allowing for increased profitability.
COMPELLING PRODUCTS: Think about what YOU would
want in a product. What would stimulate your interest? What information would
you purchase in order to take your business the the next level and beyond? The
product must also be favorably priced so that the prospect can feel comfortable
taking action.
TRACKING SYSTEM: This is extremely critical. If
you are going to advertise don't you want to know precisely where your
customers or prospects are coming from? Of course you do. The best systems not
only have a detailed tracking system but give you a feel for what the prospect
is interested in. Let's say your direct sales page has 7 pages of information
and offers. Do you think it would be valuable to know that Joe Smith clicked
through to page 2, whereas Mary Jones clicked through to page 7? Absolutely.
This helps you get a feel for the prospects interest level as well as helping
you determine how and IF you want to follow up with the prospect.
AUTORESPONDERS: There are massive differences in
autoresponders. Simply put, when a contact enters information, the
autoresponder will send emails to the prospect on a frequency that you choose.
The best systems have emails that are pre written and are branded to you. The
emails CANNOT be generic as with many autoresponders. If you want to build a
relationship with your prospect you must give them the opportunity to find out
what you are all about as well as giving them sequential information that
slowly but systematically educates them about your products and services.
TRAINING: If you search the internet you will
find many autoresponders, tracking systems and products for sale. You will find
lead capture pages and direct sale pages as well. However, unless you are
trained on how to bring all these concepts together, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, how
to drive traffic to this system, the system will not maximize your success.
There is a system in place that has the track
record, success rate, and training required to help you attain the massive
success you desire and deserve.

who you used to generate funds for your business are also potential affiliates,
and that is an important point in any funded proposal system. Without realizing
that, the idea of having a funded proposal in place in the first place is
useless.
How to Use Funded Proposals for Ongoing Business
Success
If you are going to use funded proposals to help
you promote and fund your business, it is important that you remain consistent
with that. Funded proposal systems are not only useful for generating useful
revenue, but a great way to capture leads and turn prospective clients into
prospective clients/business partners, and in the affiliate marketing business
clients and affiliates are equally important to one another. Without the client
there is no MLM business and without the MLM business clients will not have the
information or resource that you are providing that they seem to be so in need
of.
Funded proposal systems are not a new way of
generating leads, nor business prospects nor the funding necessary to continue
business operations. They are however part of a revolutionary way of doing
business that not only helps to capture needed revenue for your MLM affiliate
marketing business, but needed leads and valuable business affiliates as well.

1. Use a funded proposal to help you attract prospects to you by giving them valuable information. Use the Internet as leverage in helping you share (market) your informational products. Funded proposals by the way, help you create leads and generate cash flow for your business- at least the right ones do.
2. Write articles that offer good content and distribute to ezine publishers and article directories. The Internet makes it a whole lot easier to get your articles distributed and noticed. You can do this manually or use a service like Article Marketer or software like Article Submitter to get the job done. A person that clicks on your article's resource box and visits your site is a very good lead indeed.
3. Put up informational sites about your opportunity that is not just a pitch, but offer information so visitors that land on your site will no more about your opportunity than it's the best in the world and it's debt free. You can put up squidoos and hubpages to accomplish this task.
There you have three online multilevel marketing tips you can start using - but you don't want to start with all three. If you use a funded proposal you still have to learn how to market.
Pick ONE marketing method and get good at it, before adding others. Repeat that 10x's.
The downfall of many business owners is that they try to do ten marketing methods at the same time and end up being a jack of all trades but a master of none.
You don't want to do that. Take it one step at a time and you will find a clearer path to your goals.
